Mandy Clark
Founder, Perfect Circle Poi
Mandy Clark studied Acting and Drama Teaching at Queensland University of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Education (Drama) in 1995. She then became a Dance and Drama specialist and Head of the Performing Arts Department at a specialist school in Australia. In 1998, Mandy studied Contemporary and Classical Dance at the University of Western Sydney, graduating before her class in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance). Upon moving to London after graduation, she continued as a Dance and Drama Specialist and Consultant working extensively throughout the UK, as well as consulting and teaching autistic students at a specialist school in London. Mandy also worked as a freelance choreographer, dancer, actor and performer in a variety of shows and festivals in the UK and Australia.
Mandy first discovered the mesmerising magic and dangerous joy of Fire Dancing at Woodford Festival in Australia on New Years Eve (2002) with the solo fire performance of Dave Knox (Flame Oz). She taught herself a few poi tricks before undertaking a Poi Spinning Course with Apex Poi Courses in London, coincidentally training with the very person who had initially inspired her poi spinning journey in Australia, Dave Knox. Mandy began teaching Poi Spinning under the tutelage of Dave Knox, teaching for Apex Poi Courses in London before establishing her own company, Perfect Circle Poi. Mandy now teaches and performs Poi Spinning and Fire Dancing around the world, forever grateful she discovered this beautiful art form.
